Have you ever scrolled through the many items in the North Carolina Digital Collections and discovered a hidden treasure? Each week this summer we will highlight an item from our collection in the hopes of inspiring you to discover new-to-you materials in our digital collections.
Wow! This has been one hot summer and it has been so nice to have an ice cold Coca-Cola. In 1915, the Coca-Cola Company registered the “Coca’Cola” trademark with the North Carolina Secretary of State. The trademark application for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company is also included with the images within the North Carolina Digital Collections. According to the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State, “registration of trademarks and service marks helps provide legal protection for names, logos and other symbols used to identify the goods and services of people doing business in this state.” (Be sure to look up other trademarks on the Secretary of State website.)You can also find another trademark application for Kool-Aid by the Perkins Products Company.
