On Wednesday, January 29th, the State Archives of North Carolina will open to the public at 10 AM and stay open as long as possible. However, we still are under adverse weather policy, meaning that if we do not have adequate staffing we will close early. Patrons planning to visit the Search Room should call the main Archives phone number (919-807-7310) before coming and may also need to call that phone number to gain access to the building, as the lobby doors are currently locked in accordance with Dept. of Administration policy.
This same procedure will be in place for Thursday, January 30. If any of this information changes, we will update the public via this blog and our other social media.
If you are stuck at home due to the ice and snow, the Department of Cultural Resources has a blog post on online resources to help you pass the time, including our YouTube channel and digital collections.
Update: Due to worsening road and sidewalk conditions, the Search Room of the State Archives closed at 4:30 PM today. Watch this blog and other social media for updates on when the Search Room will open Thursday morning and, if in doubt, call the main Archives phone number.
