Labor Day and New Website Update

First of all, just a reminder that the State Archives will be closed August 31-September 2 for the Labor Day holiday.  Normal hours will resume Tuesday, September 3. Because we are in the process of moving over to the new website I may not be able to put a reminder notice on the old website about the closing or any other news for the next few days, so watch this space for any updates between now and Tuesday.

We are very excited to be launching the website, however the launch date has been moved to Tuesday, September 3 to put it after the holiday. Between now and then, we’ll be quietly testing a few live links to the website, although we are waiting until the site’s official unveiling next Tuesday to publicly publish links to the site. We welcome you on the 3rd to begin promoting and linking to the site, and to let us know if you have any questions about it.

If you’ve ever attended any of my talks on our online resources you know I like to begin with a bit of advice from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: “Don’t Panic.” This is a big change for us and our staff, just as it is for all of you who use our website. While it may take us all a while to get used to where things are in the new site, hopefully the result will be a website that is easier to use in the long run.
