I’ve been promising a new website for a while and now, finally, the time is here. Those of you who are long-time patrons of the State Archives will know that the last revision of our website came in the early 2000s and mainly involved changing the look and feel of the site without changing much of the structure. But this time we’ve gone for a complete overhaul. As a result, there will be a lot of changes from what you’re used to on our current sites.
A few things I can tell you now:
- The current launch date for the new website is August 30th. Pending any unforeseen issues coming up, expect the change over to take place then.
- The new site combines all three of our current sites: State Archives, Outer Banks History Center, and the Government Records Branch websites into one website.
- There will be sections geared towards three different types of users: the general public, state and local officials, and people involved in education.
I’ll have other updates about the new website as we get closer to the launch date. But for now, here is a sneak peek of what a page on the new site will look like:
