Two bits of fun news out of the Search Room this morning – first, to quote Debbi Blake: “Not everybody in their jobs while looking for something else just comes across a letter signed by Thomas Jefferson!” She was responding to a patron research request and it took her to the General Assembly session records from 1803. While the Jefferson letter was unrelated to the patron question, it was neat to read. In the same folder from 1803, Debbi found a letter to Joseph Gales detailing what extra bills they wanted printed and what supplies they need/have bought. It including the news that they bought “four pieces of red tape.”
No wonder archivists love their jobs!
