As I mentioned last week, this is North Carolina Archives Week. You can go to the Society of North Carolina Archivists’ NC Archives Week website for news from around the state. If you want to know what we are doing for Archives Week in the North Carolina State Archives, there is a list on this blog post.

If you aren’t in North Carolina, October is Archives Month nationally and very likely there is an Archives Week/Month celebration taking place near you. If you want to know more about Archives Month, the Society of American Archivists has information about upcoming events nationwide.

As part of Archives Week, we just put online North Carolina Civil War 150 – a website that will focus on Civil War Sesquicentennial events at the North Carolina State Archives. The site includes lists of talks, with information on how to request a talk for your event or group, and a virtual “exhibit” called “Find Your Civil War Ancestors” where Archives and Records staff write about how they found their Civil War relatives.
