North Carolina Archives Week

Proclamation by the Governor of the State of North Carolina declaring October 4-10, 2010 as "Archives Week" in North Carolina.

Next week, October 4-10, is North Carolina Archives Week – a time for archivists to talk about who we are, what we do, and what kinds of materials we have in our collections. The official North Carolina Archives Week website is run by the Society of North Carolina Archivists (SNCA) and there you can find a statewide calendar of events. To be honest, the only events there at the moment are our events (which you can read about on this blog post). But I would expect there to be more events on the calendar starting Monday.

Meanwhile the official proclamation by the Governor of the State of North Carolina declaring October 4-10, 2010 to be “Archives Week” in North Carolina arrived in my office yesterday. You can either visit the SNCA website to read it or click on the image in this post to see a larger version.

If you get a chance to come to one of our events next week, please do. If you aren’t able to make the trip to Raleigh, I’ll try to post information about the events and (hopefully) a new online exhibit to help kick off the American Civil War Sesquicentennial commemoration at the State Archives.
