Clean-up has begun at the North Carolina State Archives and Library Building following the tornadoes that hit downtown Raleigh and the greater part of eastern North Carolina on Saturday. We lost a large tree, but otherwise the building seems to have come through the storm well – I hear from staff who were in the Search Room on Saturday that the lights flickered but that we never lost power.
All things considered we feel pretty lucky. Needless to say, our thoughts are with those who lost their homes or livelihoods and with the families of those who died in the storm.
