Digitization News and Outer Bankers To Be Remembered

Two bits of news today from 109 E. Jones St.

From our Facebook page comes the announcement that the Collections Management Branch will soon be installing a new archive writer, which will be used to create 35mm security microfilm from digital images. To quote the announcement, “We will be able to accept digital public records in nearly any size and file format for conversion to microfilm for security back up of our state’s most valuable records.”

There is also a new finding aid on the Outer Banks History Center website:

Outer Bankers To Be Remembered by David Stick Manuscript Collection, 1840 – 2005
Outer Bankers To Be Remembered is a collection of nineteen biographical narratives of men and women whose lives have impacted the Outer Banks. Written by author, historian and founding benefactor of the Outer Banks History Center, David Stick, the biographies include individuals who lived between the years 1840 and 2005. The collection includes information on family background, personal profiles, professional and volunteer work, and contributions to Outer Banks communities. (20 items)
